10 Ideas to Include In Your Spring Garden Wedding Invitations

Though we’re just getting the first breaths of fall here in New Orleans, spring 2022 weddings will be here before you know it! With only six months to go until April, it’s time get started on spring wedding invitations. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding celebration or love the idea of a romantic garden wedding, then read on for some great ideas for your invitations!

1. choose colorful wedding invitations

As flowers begin to bloom, you’ll want to incorporate some of those beautiful springtime colors into your invitations. Choose either a soft, pastel color-scheme for a romantic vibe, or go for a brighter color palette for a bolder look. Either way, color says that spring has sprung!

2. incorporate a floral design

Speaking of flowers, why not add them to your invitations? There are hundreds of floral designs to choose from for every color palette. Love a particular flower? Is there one that means something special to you and your beloved? Feature it on your invitations!

3. use bright white wedding invitation paper

Not only is bright white paper crisp and airy, but it’s best at setting off both bold and pastel color schemes. There’s nothing worse than muddied, faded colors on your invitations, so set yourself up for success!

4. choose a colorful wedding envelope

Who doesn’t love receiving something fun in the mail? A brightly colored envelope will grab your guests’ attention as they empty their mailbox. Surely something in a colorful envelope will be more fun than a bill, right? Excite your guests with the invitation, and you excite them for your big day!

5. add a wax seal

If you think a colorful envelope is exciting, what about a wax seal? Recently, a client messaged me saying that her fiancé received a piece of mail with a wax seal on it. He was so excited that she said they needed to incorporate a wax seal into their invitation design. Wax seals evoke an old-world, vintage feel that can’t help but put us in a nostalgic, romantic frame of mind. And more practically speaking, wax seals can be used in many different ways: to seal an envelope, to close a vellum wrap, gate card, or pocket, or as an extra embellishment on the invitation itself!

6. pick a bold envelope liner

Envelope liners are all the rage right now! And why wouldn’t they be? They add a “wow” factor to your invitations for a minimum cost, and they’re extremely versatile. You can keep things simple with just a solid color, but why stop there? Consider a vibrant floral design or even a venue illustration. If you’re having a botanical garden wedding or a vintage wedding in the garden of a historic house, imagine how beautiful a custom venue illustration would be on your envelope liner!

7. create a floral wedding monogram

Monograms are also hugely popular right now, but don’t settle for a randomly generated one online. A floral, full-color crest is simply stunning and embodies the vintage garden wedding vibe. Plus, you can feature your monogram across all of your wedding stationery, including your invitation, programs, thank you notes, etc.

8. try a translucent vellum wrap

If light and airy is your thing, then a translucent vellum wrap is a must. This light-weight paper wraps around your invitation set and is often held closed with a wax seal or ribbon. It’s like an extra little present inside the envelope for your guests to unwrap! And if the plain white is too dull for you, you can dress it up with a floral design printed directly onto the vellum.

9. add a pocket folder for wedding invitations

An invitation pocket fold is a great alternative to the vellum wrap. Pockets come in as many colors as envelopes, so if color is your go-to, then definitely consider this accessory! Not only are pockets fun and colorful, but they are the best way to prevent your insert cards from falling out when your guests open the invitation. If you have a lot of insert cards, this is a great option to keep them organized and presentable!

10. pick colorful ribbon

Ribbon is a simple way to hold your invitation set together, and there are many different types that range in price, style, and color. Satin ribbon is the most economical and comes in many specific colors. Make sure to choose a double-face satin that is 5/8” in width or less. Silk ribbon is another great choice for a refined or vintage garden wedding, evoking an old-style feel. Whichever you choose, ribbon is wonderful way to dress up your invitations!
